Business Manager

Vacancy Introduction

Are you a skilled leader who aspires for a rewarding role supporting our Business Units? Then our Business Manager role could be for you. We are looking for 12-month fixed term maternity leave cover, starting around May 2026 to support the Adult Business Unit.

As a provider of a diverse range of NHS community services, LCH is a key player in the Leeds health and care system and West Yorkshire Integrated Care System. Within LCH the Adult Business Unit provides a variety of services which includes the integrated Neighbourhood Teams and other neighbourhood services, plus a portfolio of Patient Flow services such as the Community Care Beds and Health Case Management. LCH has an evolving role working with partners in primary and secondary care, social care and the third sector to develop our service offer in response to national guidance and the changing commissioner landscape.

The Business Manager role is part of our Business, Change and Improvement Service (BCIS), which is a network of skilled and experienced project managers and change agents. Uniquely the role is also part of the Adult Business Unit senior leadership team and will work in a matrix way, to ensure business expertise is used to support the services to be as effective and efficient as possible. The role works closely with LCH’s Head of Business, who provides line management support, the ABU General Manager and the Children’s and Specialist Business Managers.

The Business Manager role is an important and diverse one, no two days are the same! This role would suit an individual from a range of professional backgrounds including performance, contracting, project management, business development, service development, quality improvement, partnership working and/ or operational management. The diversity of the role could be extremely rewarding for the right individual and there may be opportunities to develop specialisms within the role as well as career progression within the health and care system.

Typical responsibilities include overseeing service changes and developments through an annual business plan; leading performance processes; managing contracts; being a key contact with stakeholders (such as commissioners); and providing leadership, management and professional support to staff from the BCIS.

Please note that while in the first instance this post would support our Adult Business Unit, we are currently in the process of restructuring our Business Units so the alignment of this role will change in 2026. The function of the role will likely remain very similar, but the portfolio of services you would support will change and could be a mix of services delivered at neighbourhood level through to more specialist citywide services. This role will work flexibly with the other Business Managers to adapt to this new model.
