Vacancy Introduction
The MindMate Support Team (MMST) commenced in 2020 and is continually expanding to offer early intervention mental health support to children, young people, and their families within all schools, colleges, and education provisions across Leeds.
Our aim is to support children and young people as early as possible to prevent their needs escalating and having a long-term impact on their wellbeing.
The MMST has 3 core functions: to deliver evidence-based interventions for mild-to-moderate mental health issues. Support the senior mental health lead (where established) in each school or college to introduce or develop whole school or college approach and give timely advice to school and college staff. We also liaise with external specialist service to help children and young people to get the right support and stay in education.
The service currently consists of 5 separate teams working within educational setting across Leeds, with our teams consisting of Service manager, Consultant Clinical Psychologist, Clinical Team Managers, Senior Mental Health Practitioners, Mental Health Practitioners, Education Mental Health Practitioners (EMHPs), Trainee Education Mental Health Practitioners (TEMHPs), Children’s Wellbeing Practitioners (CWPs), and Team Administrators that support all teams.
The service is growing and developing further teams supporting primary, secondary schools and further education settings across the city of Leeds and is now looking for a Clinical Psychologist to be part of this innovative team. Previous experience should include working alongside children and young people with emotional and mental health difficulties.
We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed Clinical Psychologist with an interest in working with children and young people within an innovative Mental Health Support Team (MHST) in Leeds.
The MMST prides itself on delivering early intervention using a range of low intensity evidence-based practices and whole school approach work in education settings.
You will be expected to manage a clinical caseload and contribute and support our robust supervision structure. You will be part of a nurturing and supportive leadership team, including our Consultant Clinical Psychologist, and will contribute towards the development of the service.
This is a multi-team role working within multi-systems and will involve collaboration with other relevant services. You will contribute to national initiatives and be active in developing research opportunities.
