An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Speech and Language Therapist (Band 5) to join the Adult Speech and Swallowing Service within Leeds Community Healthcare NHS Trust.
This role is open to both experienced clinicians and Newly Qualified Speech and Language Therapists awaiting HCPC registration, offering a supportive environment to develop your clinical skills within a community setting.
Our service delivers responsive, person-centred care to adults with communication and swallowing needs across Leeds. You will work in a wide range of settings including patients’ homes, care homes and community clinics, supporting individuals with diverse communication and dysphagia needs.
You will be joining a welcoming and experienced team with strong professional links across the wider healthcare system. We work closely with colleagues in Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust, specialist community services, dietitians, community matrons, specialist nurses and neurology teams, ensuring integrated care for patients.

As a Speech and Language Therapist within the Adult Speech and Swallowing Service, you will assess and manage adults with a range of communication needs across community settings including patients’ homes, care homes and clinics.
Your initial caseload will focus on communication assessment and intervention. Once established in post, you will be supported to develop your dysphagia knowledge and skills through our structured in-house dysphagia training programme. Following completion of training and competency sign-off, your caseload will expand to include adults with swallowing difficulties.
You will work closely with a wide range of health and social care professionals, developing strong multidisciplinary relationships to support coordinated, person-centred care.
We are looking for a motivated and compassionate clinician with strong communication and organisational skills, who is keen to develop their clinical expertise within a supportive community team.
Due to the community-based nature of the role, applicants must be able to travel independently across Leeds and have access to a suitable vehicle for business purposes. Reasonable adjustments will be considered in accordance with the Equality Act 2010.
