Vacancy Introduction
This part time Band 7 role offers a unique opportunity to work as the Sudden Unexpected Death in Childhood (SUDIC) Professional Lead and Senior Safeguarding Advisor (Adults) within Leeds Community Healthcare NHS Trust. You will lead the SUDIC rapid response process alongside the SUDIC Paediatrician, providing compassionate support to families and coordinating multi agency learning to enhance prevention and safety. When not undertaking SUDIC duties, you will contribute to the Safeguarding Adults Team by offering specialist advice, supervision, training, and leadership across the organisation. This senior and emotionally demanding role requires a registered nurse with substantial experience in both safeguarding adults and safeguarding children, strong professional curiosity, and the ability to work confidently in complex, sensitive situations in collaboration with multi agency partners.
This senior dual‑role position involves leading specialist activity across both SUDIC and Safeguarding Adults. The postholder will work with multi‑agency partners to support investigations, contribute to formal learning processes, and identify modifiable factors to strengthen prevention. They will review complex safeguarding concerns, act as a specialist Datix reviewer, participate in statutory review processes, and provide expert advice across LCH. Additional responsibilities include leading workstreams, supporting service development, delivering safeguarding training and supervision, and line‑managing Specialist Safeguarding Adult Advisors. The role requires a registered nurse with substantial safeguarding expertise across both adults and children, strong analytical and communication skills, emotional resilience, professional curiosity, and the ability to work confidently in sensitive, high‑risk situations.
